Above and Beyond service
What a fantastic restaurant. It’s located off the beaten path, in a small alley behind local houses. The food is delicious. We ordered fish amok and vegetables fritters. After lunch, they found us a tuktuk and one of the waiters took a ride with us, to make sure we reach our next destination. All for free!!! What a great service! Above and Beyond!
Delicious vegan food
Beautiful environment and such tasty food! They happily catered for two gluten-free vegans by creating varieties of dishes on menu. We had a makak salad to start and a veggie amok and veggie khmer curry for mains. All served with red rice, a real treat. Highly recommended!
Hidden Gem
Hidden gems. Great food and great service. They had arranged a birthday table deco for my hubby’s birthday. Complimentary tuktuk pick up and return services is a plus too.
Very good food in a lovely setting
We struggled a bit to find good food in Cambodia. This restaurant stood out as perhaps the best food we had in Cambodia. Slightly more expensive and upscale than we were looking for, but worth every penny. Kind of romantic actually. And the food was delicious!
Well worth a visit… Outstanding food!
Possibly the most important thing to remember when visiting this restaurant is that you are supporting the local economy here in particular the disadvantage youth. The youth are being trained in the hospitality industry, my understanding, by this chef run restaurant. Setting is absolutely lovely like sitting up in the trees, food though small portions, was outstanding. The trainees were enthusiastic but obviously need a bit more polish & training but that’s why they are working at this restaurant. So I don’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a lovely setting and good food and we visited this directly after the sacred dancers of Angkor show on the opposite side of the river. And the restaurant picked us up after the show to bring us to their lovely restaurant and drop us off at our hotel when we were finished.
So good, best Khmer food in Siem Reap
This was an awesome restaurant, elevating the traditional Khmer cuisine to something spectacular. I loved everything we ordered and wished we were here longer to go again. It’s moderately priced, well worth the extra couple dollars especially since they offer free tuk tuk to pick up and drop off from your hotel, they also accept credit card. Don’t leave Siem Reap without eating here!
An amazing and unforgettable dinner
We visited this restaurant based on the popular review on Trip Advisor. The restaurant offers free tuk tuk pick up from the hotel. We arranged with the restaurant staff via whatsapp. The tuk tuk driver came on time and brought us to the restaurant. The restaurant has a cosy ambience and it looks like a tree house. We went there on Thursday evening so it was not crowded.
The staff were so friendly, polite and attentive. We ordered mango salad, fish amok In banana leaf and braised pork with egg and they tasted amazing, although we had to wait quite a bit for the fish amok.
They also offered us complimentary spring rolls which is nice.
We would highly recommend this place!
Excellent dinner!
I decided to try Changkran Khmer restaurant because of the favorable reviews on TripAdvisor, and was not disappointed. My evening began with a complimentary tuk-tuk pickup from my hotel, which was welcome given the location of the restaurant off the main streets of Siem Reap.
The location was charming and exotic, dining in a traditional elevated wooden house that gave the feel of being in a treehouse in the jungle. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food excellent and reasonably-priced. I had the Grilled Beef Salad as a starter and the Fried Beef Sliced With Red Ants as the main dish. Both were great, and Chef Mongkol came out from the kitchen to personally check on how I was doing.
The evening ended with the tuk-tuk ride back to the hotel, which was again appreciated as it had begun to rain while I was dining. I would highly recommend Changkran Khmer to anyone passing through Siem Reap!
Top Class !
Very elegantly presented and extremely tasteful Khmer traditional dishes in a peaceful and surrounded by trees wooden structure: a must-do when in Siem Reap!
A hidden place to be discovered (not easy to find, but they send you a free tuk tuk), with very professional and smiling young trainees as waiters.
Go on like that, guys
Delicious salads and amazing cocktails at a fair price
After reading reviews on trip advisor we finally found this restaurant (it’s down a narrow twisty road completely off the beaten track). It was beautifully lit, in the trees and the staff were warm and inviting. We tried 4 different cocktails and they had a happy hour which meant €3.50 for two, an absolute bargain and they were super delicious using good quality alcohol and juices. We were given complimentary spring rolls and then we ordered a salad for the starter and it was honestly the best salad I had ever had! It was Changkran Chef salad and it was so tasty, all crispy and delightful.
For the main course I ordered the king prawn red curry however I had to change my order as I was imagining a king prawn curry but instead it was big shrimps shelled and so I changed for a delicious salmon dish. The staff were attentive and helpful and chatty also.
Our server Rotha was lovely and friendly and considering he’d only been studying English a short while he spoke really well.
Considering all the staff are training it was an excellent restaurant and I feel you’re really giving something back to people by visiting. Would recommend!
My friends and I were in Siem Reap for four days and headed to this spot for lunch after reading the reviews here. The place did it disappoint! We were a bit early and were still greeted with friendliness!! The staff arrived shortly after we did and Rotha was the best server. He explained that this was a training restaurant and everyone was learning. The food was amazing we had the red curry, beef salad, taro root clusters, and the eggplant. All were delicious! Highly recommended and we even got a free tuk tuk ride back to our hotel!
Great food, great service, great place!
After reading the reviews in trip advisor we booked a table for nine on the phone. They were very helpful and they sent two tuc-tucs to pick us from the hotel as the place is in a quite hidden location, although within very close distance from the Main Street
The place is very nicely decorated, the service was very helpful and the food was incredible. A wide variety of local dishes at a very reasonable price considering the quality they offer.
Really worth going!. I would recommend this to antibody that wants to discover Khmer cuisine.
Great Value and a Hidden Gem
Our evening was slightly marred by a late tuktuk pickup, but this was more than made up for by all the other outstanding aspects of our enjoyable experience at this lovely restaurant. There were some very thoughtful touches like the lemongrass welcome drink, cold towel, and free spring rolls. The food itself tasted excellent and was of great value — the pork belly, red curry, and chef’s salad are a must-have. Above all, the service we experienced on the night of 15 May was top-notch. Our host was warm, friendly, and always attentive to our every need.
Love this Secret Spot

Hidden Gem, Absolutely Fantastic
Came for dinner after reading some reviews on TA. Our experience says that some hidden places can be a really fantastic place to eat. This restaurant fully proved the rule.
Well hidden in small streets. Our tuk-tuk driver had to stop twice to ask for the road. Last 150 meters of half dark very narrow street with sudden turns was not promising to find the restaurant, but Oila! Here it was. So quiet and silent and calm. Only few guests and one could think we made a mistake, but no. We were greated at the very entrance by staff who were very friendly and helpful and nice. They took us to the upstairs terrace where we could enjoy the night freshness and nice interior. Air fans were on and made our stay even more nice. There was a good choice of food in menu. We received complimentary tea and spring rolls. Food was very nice and good quality and service at high level. We had beef soup (best of what we tried in the town) and beef with RED ANTS (!!!) which was just perfect. My friends had pork ribs (very nice) and beef steak (which could have been more soft).
For the drinks we had beer and wine. Also desert.
All was fantastic and at a very reasonable prices.
And the place! It is so quiet and tranquil. Just the opposite of the boosting Pub area! We felt like home.
Guys, you made our day! Special thanks to Mr. Rotha who was taking care of us.
I think you are doing a great job there and we wish you all the best in your business.
Thank you again for the great dinner and great night out. Success!
Lunch a hidden gem
Figured it would be too hard to find in the dark and on my own. Decided lunch was the go. Really hard to decide as the menu was all good, plus the specials board looked interesting to. Settled on salmon, cooked beautifully with a green sauce. House wine was great. Also noted they run 4 and 5 course menus as well.
Food was magic, students so willing. All in all well worth the walk. Great place for a special dinner. In Siem Reap do not miss this one. Get a Tuk Tuk though as hard to find. Will go back
Too well kept a secret
We dined here in the middle of February after attending the Sacred Dancers of Angkor performance on the other side of the river. We were the only diners which, when we had finished a quite superb meal, left me amazed at how this venue is not on everybody’s radar.
Won’t repeat the principles on which this restaurant runs – read it all on their website – but it is worth supporting on that basis alone. Add to this the fact that the food is of such high quality and the staff so keen to make sure you have an enjoyable meal it is a tragedy that the place is not heaving with people every night.
The menu is varied and offered our jaded western palettes the opportunity to try some really authentic local cuisine – I will never look at red ants the same way ! It is also super value for money.
So Mr Rotha, Miss Ling, Mr Orm and Mr Pist – keep up the good work for your b
Hidden Gem in Siem Reap
Changkran Khmer restaurant is a must-visit for anyone visiting Siem Reap and looking for a delicious meal at a great price with excellent service. They transport you to and from your hotel for free, and offer complimentary dishes when you arrive such as egg rolls for us. The restaurant is tucked away so is hard to find from the street, but is beautiful, feeling like you are sitting in a tree canopy. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious— I got the Fish Amok in a young coconut which I would highly recommend. The staff were extremely gracious and attentive.
A++
Food: prawns salad with mint, fried taro, beef soup, king prawns in red curry, fish amok in a coconut, banana in sago dessert.Friendly and welcoming staff. I really appreciated how they communicated with us (in English) – you could really see the effort to make us feel comfortable / looked after – I was v impressed with their English too! Really delicious and super fresh food. The juice was amazing (juice, I know!). Fish amok is a must! Beef soup had an amazing complexity to it as well. King prawns are crawfish-sized, just FYI.If you call ahead, they’ll come pick you up and drop you off in a tuk-tuk! It’s really hidden so this is an awesome service 🙂 Open air terrace made for an awesome atmosphere for this dining experience and would definitely come back next time I’m in Siem Reap!
